Understanding & Managing Emotional Eating:
A virtual skills workshop for Health Professionals
Weds 21st & Weds 28th July 2021 (2 x morning sessions)

Workshop outline:
Emotional eating is a major problem often causing psychological distress and contributing to weight issues. Health professionals frequently work with individuals who experience emotional eating patterns yet often feel stuck in terms of how to intervene. There is sometimes a temptation to throw multiple strategies at the problem in the hope that something will stick! However any strategies need to be rooted in a psychological understanding (formulation) of this behaviour. This involves understanding the reasons for the development of this eating pattern, the function of emotional eating and the impact it has. This workshop uses CBT principles to help health professionals develop individual formulations with their patients. This shared understanding becomes the basis for identifying and using interventions and strategies that are appropriate and relevant to the individual client.
